I will never forget the quiet, sterile room we were put in while our son had heart surgery.  It was horrible.  The chairs were uncomfortable and there was nothing to do but wonder and worry.  If only I had had access to a treadmill or a bike or something that I could've done to get the "scared energy" out and do something positive it might not have been such a worrisome and stressful time. Walking the halls isn't the same.  To have a comfortable, welcoming environment that invited de-stressing activities instead of quiet sitting would've really made a difference.
